COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Anna Lee Brewington, 84, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. today, Monday, July 7, at the funeral home. Mrs. Brewington died Saturday, July 5, 2008, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Monterey to the late Walter Lester Slagle and Bertie Lee Clinton. Mrs. Brewington worked for many years in the local shirt factory. She was also retired from the Putnam County School system as a bus driver for the handicapped children. Mrs. Brewington was a member of the Church of Christ. Her family includes two daughters and a son-in-law, Jo Ann Black of Sparta and Ellen and Randall Maberry of Carrollton, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Daisy Slagle of Cookeville; a sister, Jean Maxwell of Baxter; four granddaughters and three spouses, Jo Ellen Maberry, Carrie Lee and Jason Gentry, Catherine Ann and Brent Copeland, and Cortney Nichole and Bruce Savage; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter Nathaniel and Laney Lee Copeland, Rilee Nichole Savage, Hannah Wiley, Noah Randall and Caleb Jason Gentry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Brewington. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Bros. L.D. Anderson and Ralph Dunn will officiate the services.
