Armon Nash

August 23, 1930 — September 8, 2020

Funeral services for Armon Reece Nash, age 90 of Baxter, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday September 10 at Nash Grove Baptist Church. Bro. Gary West will officiate. Interment will follow at Martin Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 p.m. until service time at the church. Due to COVID precautions social distance measures will be observed. Mr. Nash passed away suddenly Tuesday September 8, 2020 at his home. He was born August 23, 1930 in Putnam County to the late Carl and Maggie Myatt Nash. Mr. Nash was a graduate of Baxter Seminary. He was an ethical, hard-working man whose varied career included logger, trucker, welder, draftsman and engineer. He also owned and operated Cookeville Boat Dock marina from 1967 until his retirement. He was a member of Nash Grove Baptist Church, where he also served as a Deacon. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting and spending time with his family. Mr. Nash is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Helen Burgess Nash; daughter, Camilla Brown of Baxter; daughter-in-law, Frida Nash Gaw; granddaughters, Christina (Jon) Slemp, Kimberly Nash all of Baxter; grandson, Carl Reece Nash of Baxter; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Lilly Slemp, Mackenzie Nash, Ryder Nash and Bodhi Nash; sisters, Carlina Allison of Michigan, Norma Lee Austin of Michigan, Linda (Jerry) Swallows of Cookeville and Connie (Ronnie) Whittaker of Nashville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Betty Jo Nash; brother, Norman Levi Nash; son, Reece Nash and son-in-law, Hollis Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to Nash Grove Baptist Church and/or the Nash Grove Baptist Church Youth Fund at 9390 Cookeville Boatdock Rd., Baxter TN 38544.
