Funeral services for Mrs. Artie Mae Blaylock, age 94 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday March 24 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Blaylock officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Blaylock's family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Blaylock died Saturday morning March 21, 2015 in Signature Healthcare of Putnam County in Algood. She was born June 5, 1920 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Garfield and Verda Mae Jernigan Stamps. Mrs. Blaylock was a homemaker and attended Harris Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Artie Mae was known for always being a hard worker. She loved gardening and working in her flowers. She was a special mother and grandmother who loved being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Blaylock (who died May 1, 1992), granddaughter, Andrea Chambers, great great granddaughter, Breanna Tucker, and brother, Thurman G. Stamps. Survivors include her daughter, Juanita Sullivan of Hardys Chapel of Overton County; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles and Maggie Blaylock of Cookeville and Bill Blaylock of Gainesboro; three grandchildren, Shelley Tucker, Amy Donagan, and Angel Blaylock; five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Blaylock's family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
