Funeral services for Bessie Allene Brown, 81, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Pastor David Corley officiating. Cremation will follow the service and urn burial be held at a later date in the Iberia Cemetery in Iberia, OH. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Ms. Brown died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at her home. She was born February 13, 1931 in Jackson County, TN to the late Hugh Lester and Ella Sissy Meadows Wade. Ms. Brown had attended Trinity Assembly Church and Life Church. She was a retired property manager. She enjoyed activities and visiting friends at the Cookeville Senior Citizens Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dalton Brown; two brothers, Dink Wade and Clarence Wade; two sisters, Mable Mann and Betty Bonham. Ms. Brown is survived by a son, Greg Brown of Cookeville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and John Kreta of Cincinnati, OH and Betsy Arsenault of Cookeville; brother, Billy Wade and wife Linda of Baxter; and a sister, Cora Ann Amons of Gallatin; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Smile, 6435 Tidewater Dr., Norfolk, VA 23509. Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that do reconstructive surgeries on children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.
