Betty Bradley

Betty Sue Johnson Bradley, 92, of Henrico, Virginia died Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Lakewood Retirement Community. Born March 10, 1928, in Cookeville, TN, to the late Herschel J. and Nannie Pearl Johnson, the youngest of five children. She graduated Central High School in Cookeville and attended Tennessee Tech. She earned her teaching certificate and taught grade school. She married Clarence Eugene Bradley in Cookeville on November 11, 1949, and they moved to Washington, D.C., then Northern Virginia. She held various clerical and office management positions and eventually returned to teaching, substituting in Henrico County Public Schools. She is survived by two children, Walter Russell Bradley and Patricia Jean Bradley; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Stephen Bradley, John Michael Bradley, Joseph Eugene Bradley and Caroline Hawthorne Williams; and one great-grandchild, Liam Eugene Bradley. She was preceded in death by her son, John Michael in 1969; and her husband, Clarence Eugene Bradley in 2003. Her family received friends Saturday, July 24th, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 AM at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment followed at 11:00 a.m. at Cookeville City Cemetery. Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111.
