Betty Jean Nickens

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Nickens, 79 of Maryville and formerly of Cookeville will be held Tuesday January 31 at 7 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be Wednesday February 1 at 11 a.m. at the Dry Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery in the Dry Valley Community of Putnam County. Rev. Bobby Sebastian will officiate. Mrs. Nickens died peacefully Sunday afternoon January 29, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born August 15, 1932 in Putnam County, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Velma Hunter Lamb. Prior to moving to Maryville, she and her family were long-time residents of Nashville. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Anderson; and three brothers, Jerry Don Lamb, Bobby "Toot"� Lamb, and Billy Joe Lamb. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Bobby Nickens (whom she married December 18, 1954 in Monterey); three sons and daughters-in-law, Don & Tracey Nickens of Bradenton, FL, Scott & Sonya Nickens of Knoxville, and Todd & Olivia Nickens of Kingsport, TN; six grandchildren, Rachel (Zach) Weeks, Rebecca Nickens, Byron Nickens, Brant Nickens, Michael Nickens, and Josh Nickens; three great grandchildren, Audrey Weeks, Hailey Weeks, and Kara Nickens; brother, Terry (Sue Ray) Lamb of Cookeville, and two sisters, Shirley Vaden of Cookeville, and Susie (George) Sprouse of Dunlap, TN.
