Bettye Smith

Funeral services for Bettye Sue Smith, 72, of Tullahoma and formerly of Monterey will be held Friday, October 5 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Elbert Smith will officiate. Visitation will be 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home. Ms. Smith died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma. She was born May 23, 1940 in Monterey, TN to the late Reese and Daisy Reeves Smith. Ms. Smith was a member of Tullahoma First Church of the Nazarene. She attended Trevecca Nazarene University and graduated from Erlanger School of Nursing in Chattanooga. She was a nurse at Erlanger Hospital for several years and retired from Harton Hospital in Tullahoma. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Smith and a sister, Louise Essary. Ms. Smith is survived by Barbara Gill, Mary Rich and Sara Tinch, who loved and cared for her in her last years. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
