Funeral services for Mr. Arthur William "Bill"� Stayt, Jr., 68, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, November 7 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with James Ray officiating. Interment with military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Skurlock Cemetery in White County. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Stayt passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1944 in Flint, MI to the late Arthur William Stayt, Sr. and Mary Helen Hardy Stayt. Bill proudly served 25 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and retired a highly decorated Builder Senior Chief. He was a member of the Combat Veterans Association and Fleet Reserve Association. Mr. Stayt enjoyed his work and took pride in it being done right. He loved his family and had a passion for his motorcycles. He was an avid biker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law and her husband, Dean and Jim Bauer. Mr. Stayt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jewel Guy Stayt of Cookeville (whom he married May 15, 1982 in Charleston, SC); three sons, Terry Stayt and wife Carol of Charleston, SC, Rick Smith and wife Kim of Cookeville and Gary Smith of Sparta; daughter, Kim Smith of Cookeville; seven grandchildren, Cameron Thrower, Lindsay Slee, Coby Sanderson, Kristin Smith, Kacey Smith, Cody Smith and Conner Stayt; two sisters, Kari Sexton and husband Rick of Indiana and Bonnie Fee and husband Gordon of Flint, MI; three nieces, Sherry Fee, Brenda Fee and Janice Woodcock and a devoted friend, James Ray "J.R."� of Knoxville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
