Bobbie Joe Mickey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on July 7, 2024, at Signature Health Care in Algood, Tennessee. Born on May 2, 1931, in High Point, North Carolina, Bobbie's life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and dedication.
Bobbie proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran before embarking on a distinguished 30-year career with the Internal Revenue Service, where he retired as the chief of collections for the state of Tennessee. His work was marked by integrity and a commitment to excellence, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Debbra Mickey, who stood by him as a beacon of support and love. He is also survived by his son, Trevor Mickey, daughter, Leigh Mickey; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bobbie was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Franklin Mickey Sr. and Nannie Ruth Short Mickey; his daughter, Cheryl Wilson; and his brother, Richard Franklin Mickey Jr. His family takes comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones who passed before him.
Those who knew Bobbie will remember him as a kind and likable man, whose presence was a source of comfort and warmth. He had an uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and his gentle demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Bobbie's life was one of quiet impact, marked by the love he shared and the lives he touched. While no services are planned, his memory will be honored by the many people who were fortunate enough to know him.
