Funeral services for Mr. Carlos D. "Jack" Ballard 77, of Baxter will be held Tuesday August 30 at 1 p.m. at Baxter Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. John Pippin will officiate. Mr. Ballard died Saturday morning August 27, 2011 at his home. He was born August 9, 1934 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Layton and Ova B. Hensley Ballard. He was a member of Baxter Church of Christ; worked a number of years at the former Cookeville Shirt Factory; and was a retired machinist with the Flowserve Corporation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Ballard and Jane Anderson; and eight brothers, Joe, Fred, Burt, Mitchell, Hollis, Cecil, Ensel, & Johnny Ballard. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Pauline Anderson Ballard (whom he married June 28, 1958 in Gainesboro, TN); son and daughter-in-law, Eldon & Sandy Ballard of Baxter; three grandchildren, Becky (Bratch) Hyder, Angela Andrews, and Amanda (Kenny) Gragg; four great grandchildren, Shelby Lee, Ariel Hyder, Jack Hyder, and Davin Gragg. His family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Baxter Chapel and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
