Funeral services for Charles Kenneth Rhea, Sr., 92, Assisted Living Resident of Life Care Center of Sparta will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. (CDT) in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville, Tennessee. Rev. Maury Norman will preside. A processional to Cookeville City Cemetery for graveside services and interment will follow immediately after the service. Mr. Rhea died, after a lengthy illness, April 23, 2012. He was born October 13, 1919 to the late Thomas Lloyd and Vicie Bell Rhea of Hixson and Red Bank, TN. Mr. Rhea served our country with distinction during World War II. He enlisted in the Navy in February 1937, and rose in rank to become Lieutenant JG on Admiral King"�s staff, working at the highest levels of Naval Intelligence. In civilian life, he acted variously as a Civil Engineer, Plans Department Manager, and Chief Review Appraiser for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellyn Cecelia Paradiso Rhea; son Charles Kenneth Rhea, Jr.; brother Robert Lloyd Rhea, and sister Mary Sue Rhea Smith. Survivors include his son Thomas LaMar and daughter-in-law Muriel Rhea of North Grafton, MA; daughter-in-law Anne Norman Rhea of Cookeville; granddaughter Staci Rhea and great-granddaughter, Charley Madison Meyers of Nashville; niece Marilyn Shumake; nephews George Rhea Smith of Red Bank, and Robert E. Rhea of Panama City Beach, FL; aunt Jean Allen Bell Poe, age 100, Hickory Valley Assisted Living Facility, Chattanooga. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children"�s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
