Mr. Charlie Mitchell Johnson, age 85 of Cookeville, died suddenly Thursday December 7, 2017 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He was born August 14, 1932 in Cookeville to the late Jesse James and Velma Darcus (Guinn) Johnson. He was raised in the Salem community of Cookeville. He moved to Detroit, Michigan in the early 1950s for work and was employed as a die setter. He returned to Cookeville upon retirement in 1994. Charlie was hardworking, had a great sense of humor and was always there for his family. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time at the Cookeville Senior Citizens Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Fanny "Fay" Allumi Johnson; and brothers, Harold Johnson and Bobby Johnson and great grandson Matthew Zyla. He is survived by son, Gary Johnson of Cookeville; daughters, Cynthia Ingall of Fremont, MI, Linda Cunningham of Murfreesboro, TN and Laura (William) Bateman of Winter Haven, FL; four grandchildren, Jake Ingall, Brian Skillin, Jacqueline Wood and Amber Aslakson-Duff; and seven great grandchildren.
