Funeral services for Charlie King Wester Sr., age 83 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday October 14 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. David Meeks will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time. Charlie passed away Friday October 8, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1938 in Putnam County, TN to the late Fred and Edna Wester. Charlie proudly worked at Fleetguard (Cummins Filtration) for over 30 years and he retired in 2003. He enjoyed serving at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed joking around and loved to see others smile. If you ever rode in a vehicle with him, you know he never took the straight route. He was a loving and caring man. He is survived by his wife, Mary Roberts Wester; daughters, Terry Long, Felecia Roberts, Jacqueline Shockley, Karen English (Richard), Darlene Hardy, and Dawn Hollins (George); sister, Valeda Smith: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and good friend Smitty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Phillips Roberts and Charlie King Wester Jr.; granddaughter, Nakia Irwin; son-in-law, Michael Hardy; brothers, Jack Clay, John Henry Wester, and Ned Wester; sisters, Lena Sadler and Elizabeth Kelly. The Wester family wishes to thank all of those that called, visited, prayed, provided food and comfort. It is very much appreciated.
