Christine Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Christine Brown, age 93 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 13 at the Algood Family Event Center with Pastor Brent Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Brown died Monday evening, November 9, 2015 at NHC of Cookeville. She was born September 30, 1922 in Overton County, TN to the late Alex and Eliza West Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded death in by her husband, Arthur Brown (who died December 5, 1972); nephew, Dwight Arms; and niece, Marcia Heady. Mrs. Brown was a member of Algood United Methodist Church. She was a retired supervisor at Tennessee School for the Blind in Donelson, TN. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Doris Brown of Cookeville; granddaughter, Shona (husband Brett) Ellis of Knoxville; three great-granddaughters, Jayden, Abigail and Danielle Ellis; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Willie Arms of Algood; two nieces, Ann (David) Mitchell, and Jan Arms all of Atlanta, GA; great nephew, Hattan Mitchell; great niece, Tracy (husband Patrick) Dechemily; great nephew , Stephen (wife Amy) Warren; great great-nephews, Cooper Dechmily and Robert Warren. The family would like express their appreciation to the management, staff, and nurses (especially the 200 hall nurses) at NHC of Cookeville for the special care afforded to Mrs. Brown and her family. Pallbearers will be David Mitchell, Hattan Mitchell, Danny Heady, Patrick Dechemily, Bill Fielder, and Willard Brown.
