Memorial services for Mr. Charles Robert Buckner, 82 of Cookeville, formerly of Medina, TN, will be held Tuesday, July 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Jeff Eddlemon will officiate. His family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Buckner passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family. He was born Sunday, May 2, 1937 in Wauwatosa, WI to the late George (Sr.) and Tina Patzwald Buckner. He retired as Director of Information Systems with American Ordnance Systems (formerly Lockeed Martin Ordnance Systems) in Milan, TN. He was active in Medina, TN, church and community affairs, teaching Sunday school and serving several terms as an alderman for the City of Medina, TN as well as a member of the city planning board. After retirement he relocated in Cookeville to be near his daughter and grandchildren, becoming an active member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a soft spoken, kind-hearted, loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. His family includes his wife of 51 years, Lynda Sykes Buckner; daughter and son in law, Kim and Lee Jones of Cookeville; grandchildren, Lee and Deacon Jones; and brother, George Buckner of Townsend, WI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Buckner; brother, Harold Buckner; and sisters, Gladys Walls, Shirley Salzer, Ethel Parske and Roxie Cheske.
