Funeral Services for Mr. Claude B. Allen, age 84, of Cookeville, will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Wednesday, June 20 from noon until time of the service. Mr. Allen passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. He was born February 2, 1928 in Overton County TN and was one of eight children born to the late Osa D. Allen and Effie Mae Poston Allen. Claude was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He attended the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ and enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and fishing after retiring and moving back to Tennessee. Claude is survived by three sisters: Mary Ruth (Tom) Pryor of Cookeville, Imogene Snedecor and Charlene (Donnie) Ledbetter both of Livingston, one brother, Harley (Lois) Allen of St. Clair Shores MI and one sister-in-law, Mary Emma Allen. In addition, Mr. Allen came from a large family and is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dessie Haney Allen; two sisters, Norma Ray and Nadine Bowman; one brother Hilman Allen; a brothers-in-law, Wade Ray, Charles Bowman and Jerry Snedecor; and a very special friend, Neva Roberts. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ledbetter, Gary Allen, Dillon Burgess, Tony Peek, Bruce Allen, Lee Snedecor, Tim Farris, and Mark Burgess. Bro. Ken Haney will officiate the services.
