Funeral services for Mr. Claude Lavern "Burn"� Crawford, 87, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday June 8 at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Pharris officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 "� 8 pm and again Saturday from 9 am until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Crawford died Thursday morning June 6, 2013 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Masters. He was born June 27, 1925 in Putnam County, TN to the late Alvin Hawkins and Sallie Etta Crawford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Steakley and Ruby Crawford; nine brothers, Leonard, Herman, Alvin, Ernest, Ben Hooper, George Clifford, James E., Charles Darweda and Bill Crawford. Mr. Crawford was a lifelong farmer. He managed his family"�s multi-generational farm until his recent health decline. He enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music, and riding his motorcycle. He is survived by four sisters-in-law, Jean Crawford of Warren, MI, Lillian Crawford and Leslie Crawford, both of Cookeville, and Jane Crawford of Livingston; 12 nieces and nephews, Donald Crawford (Wilma), Claudine Richardson, Willene Flatt, Leonard Jr. Crawford, Sandra Herkenhoff (John), Nick Crawford (Peggy), Lois Crawford Grainger (Joe), George Leonard Crawford (Joan), Pat Gilpatrick (Mike), Charles Crawford (Linda), William Crawford, Kenneth Crawford (Chris); special friend, Jessie Mae Watts; and special neighbor, David West. Family and friends will be pallbearers.
