Mr. Curtis Hal Key, age 82, of Cookeville, passed away suddenly Sunday evening , November 13, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Key's family will gather to receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday, November 18 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. He was born April 26, 1934 in Athens, AL to the late Hal and Mary Lizzie Cobb Key. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Key. Curtis retired from Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI after 31 years of service. Following retirement he and his wife, Laura, moved to Cookeville where he worked at J & S Construction and later TTU Operations and Maintenance Dept. Curtis was a passionate Alabama football fan. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Laura Weaver Key, whom he married March 17, 1982 in Hawaii; four sons and daughters-in-law, Denny and Sue Key of Columbia, SC, Dan and Sonya Key of Auburndale, FL, Dave and Kathy Key of Inverness, FL, and Don Key of Chesterfield, MI; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his miniature poodle, Buffy.
