Daniel "DAN" David Velasquez, 76 of Cookeville died Friday, December 17, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, January 20 at 2 PM at the Edge Facility of Cookeville Life Church. Pastor Ted Kocher and Pastor Donnie Davidson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until service time at the Edge. He was born May 2, 1945 in Monte Vista, Colorado to the late Joseph and Maria Chavez Velasquez. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a corpsman. Dan was a member of Life Church of Cookeville. He retired in 2010 from Paris, California Industrial Clinic as a Physician's Assistant and moved to Cookeville in April of 2011. He enjoyed golf, yard work, westerns, music, bowling and watching sports. Dan enjoyed life and his family and church family and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include wife of 51 years (Married May 17, 1970) Karen Cook Velasquez of Cookeville, daughters Danette Arlene (Jason) Watkins of Cape Coral, FL, Jody Miller and fiance Corey Thornton of Cookeville, sister Rosemary Martinch of Sacramento, CA., brother Samuel Joel (Sherry) Velasquez of Cookeville, grandchildren: Daniel Vincent Gross, Vincent Lee Gross, Jr., Brittany Marie Childs and Emma Marie Rehmel, great-grandchildren: Ellie, Hudson, Carter, Brielle, Harrison, Journey, Wyatt and Violet. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Mustard Seed Ranch, 4725 Kuykendall Rd. Cookeville, TN 38501. Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (931) 526-6111.
