David Allen

Funeral services for David Hoyal Allen, age 70 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, May 18th at 1 pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Perryn Rice will officiate. Interment will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Allen died Monday evening, May 13, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1942 in San Jose, California to the late Samuel Hoyal and Holly LaVerne Smartt Allen. Mr. Allen was a man who loved the Lord with all his heart, with all his mind, and with all his soul. He retired from a water quality control position at Hailey Management Services in Murfreesboro, TN, where he worked with dear friends for many years. Mr. Allen also served in the National Guard as a young man. In life he adored his daughter Heather, and found solace in his family and friends. He had a love of books and craved adventure. He had a big heart and an infectious laugh that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, James Wesley Allen. He is survived by a daughter, Heather Noelle Chapin and husband Ed of Granite Bay, CA; grandchildren, Jordan, Ethan, Evan, Abrielle and Ryan Chapin; sister-in-law, Julie Allen of Cookeville; nieces and nephews, Stephanie and Jeremy Wendt and Kim Allen, all of Cookeville, and Jeremy and Charity Allen of Deckerd, TN; great nieces and nephews, Kyle, Grant and Kristen Wendt, Alexandra Ford, and Serenity and Alyssa Allen.
