Funeral services for Mrs. Deltha Lee Williams, 86, of Signal Mountain will be held at 11 am est. Thursday, September 25 at Signal Crest United Methodist Church with Dale Wyrick and Beth Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 pm est. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and again Thursday from 10 am est. until service time at the church. Mrs. Williams died Sunday evening September 21, 2014 at Siskin Hospital in Chattanooga. She was born January 3, 1928 in Pickett County to the late James Dewey and Lucille Ammonette Pyles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Ryder, son Stephen Williams, and sister, Wanda Slagle. Mrs. Williams was a member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was retired elementary school educator having served at Mountain Creek Elementary School in Chattanooga. She also served as an administrator in the Chattanooga City School System. Mrs. Williams enjoyed literary arts and penned many poems. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marion Williams (whom she married November 17, 1950 in Cookeville, TN); two sons and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Shirley Williams of Winston-Salem, NC, and Randy Williams of Signal Mountain; brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Joyce Pyles of Franklin, TN; two sisters, Faye Lynch of Nashville and Vi Ferguson of Detroit, MI; five grandchildren, Charlie Ryder (wife Christine), Ramsey Morrison (husband Brian), Evan Ryder, Jason Short (wife Emily), and Brian Williams (wife Jessica); three great-grandchildren, Caden Ryder, Lucy and Penelope Morrison. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, 6025 Lee Highway, Suite 203, Chattanooga, TN 37421 or the National Parkinson's Foundation, PO Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
