Delzie Stamps

Funeral services for Delzie Lee Stamps, 88, of Cookeville will be held Friday, September 16 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Rev. Mark Gaw will officiate. Mrs. Stamps died Wednesday morning, September 14, 2011 at Masters Healthcare Center. She was born October 14, 1922 in Putnam County, TN to the late Lee Wesley and Mary Lee Romines Ray. Mrs. Stamps was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. She was a 1941 graduate of Monterey High School and attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TTU). She was retired from JC Penney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, C.J. Ray. Mrs. Stamps is survived by her husband of 69 years, Shirley Stamps of Cookeville (whom she married March 13, 1942); son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Patti Stamps of Crossville; sister, Ann Howard of Algood; two grandchildren, Eric Stamps and wife Jey of Lenoir City, TN, and Jenni Stamps of Knoxville; and one great grandchild, Libby Stamps. Mrs. Stamp"�s family will receive friends Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will Bill Romines, Steve Romines, Tommy Romines, Kenneth Romines, Randy Richardson, Gary Howard, Steven Poteet, Dwayne Howard and Ronnie Howard.
