Funeral Services for Dillard Robert Stewart, 93 of Silver Point will be Saturday, December 29 at 1 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 A.M. till service time. Mr. Stewart died Wednesday morning, December 26, 2012 at Masters Health Care Center. He was born June 18, 1919 in Putnam County, Tn. He was a retired heavy equipment operator in major road construction. When construction began to build Center Hill Dam, he was one of the first men hired and worked there until it was completed. During World War II he went to Detroit and worked in a factory to repair airplanes damaged in battle. After returning to Tennessee he had a farm and raised cattle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Nola Irene Thomas Stewart (who died August 26, 1997), a brother Coolidge Jones, sisters Pearl Maxwell and Aldona Stoll. Survivors include daughter & son-in-law Geraldine & Gary Leftwich, two grandchildren Lisa and her husband Thomas Jones, Stewart and his wife Melinda Leftwich all of Cookeville, seven great-grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Jones, Ethan Thomas Jones, Matthew Gray Jones, Emma Catherine Grace Jones, Olivia Caroline Leftwich, Luke McGlasson Leftwich and David Sullivan Leftwich, brother & sister-in-law Lenard & Tina Jones of Dade City, Fl. Bro. Phil Loftis will officiate. Family & friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mustard Seed Ranch for children, 4725 Kuykendall Road, Cookeville, TN 38501.
