Doris Sevier

Private family graveside services and interment for Mrs. Doris Marie Sevier, age 77 of the Willow Grove community of Clay Co. and formerly of Algood, will be held Friday, November 20th at St. John's Cemetery. Chaplain Melinda Bilbrey will officiate. Mrs. Sevier died Tuesday November 17, 2020 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County. She was born August 22, 1943 in Carthage, TN to the late Marvin and Hallie Bilbrey. Doris earned a bachelors degree from Tennessee Tech University. She taught English and Honors English classes at the former Cookeville Junior High School for over 20 years. Her creativity and love of words also inspired her to write children's books. She also possessed a fun loving nature and adventurous spirit. Most importantly, she cherished her family and quality time spent with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jackie 'Jack' Sevier; and son-in-law, Jim Finley She is survived by daughter, Melahn Finley of Algood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Jessica Sevier of the Willow Grove Community, David and Rhonda Sevier of Lebanon, TN; brother, Gene (Marcella) Bilbrey; sister, Carolyn (James) Phy, all of Algood; grandchildren, Zac Finley, Rebecca (Austin) Gray, Hallie Sevier, Thomas Sevier, Amber Shelton (husband Thomas), and Sierra Sevier; and by great grandchildren, Emma Grace Shelton, Waylon Shelton and Blake Poindexter. Doris' family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation, One Medical Center Boulevard, Cookeville, TN 38501.
