Dottie Golding

November 4, 1949 — June 25, 2024

COOKEVILLE-Dorothy J. "Dottie" Golding, aged 74, devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024 encircled by the love of her devoted family after a courageous 4 ½ year battle with breast cancer. Born on November 4, 1949, in Glen Cove, NY to the late James and Dorothy Albertson, Dottie was a pillar of strength and love to all those who knew her.

A true companion and cherished wife, Dottie shared a wonderful life with her husband of 55 years, Thomas J. Golding, Sr. Their unwavering partnership was a testament of love and commitment, and together they raised three remarkable children – two sons, Thomas J. Golding, Jr and wife Jessica of Cookeville, and Christopher J. Golding of Tucson, AZ; and a daughter, Tricia J. Skaggs and husband Robert of Cookeville, all of whom inherit her spirit of grace and kindness.

Dottie's siblings, James and Peter Albertson, and sister Verna Mai, remember her as a source of joy and comfort. Her family further multiplied with the addition of her five grandchildren, TJ, Ella, Liam, Anthony, and Annabelle, whose curious minds and excitement for life filled her heart with immeasurable pride.

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Albertson.

A graduate of Glen Cove High School, Dottie dedicated her professional life to nurturing others as a nanny and caregiver, leaving a legacy of gentle care and profound wisdom. Beyond her family commitments and professional endeavors, Dottie found solace and delight in her varied interests. She took great pleasure in thrifting, had skilled hands for crocheting, and a passion for exploring new places.

Dottie's memory will forever be cherished as a precious keepsake within the hearts of all who were fortunate to have felt the warmth of her presence. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love, care, and spirited generosity that will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Algood Cumberland Presbyterian Church at a later date in Cookeville.
