Dr. Tomas de Paulis, age 80, died Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at his home in Hermitage, Tennessee. Celebration of Life services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, October 1st, at Percy Priest Dam Trailhead in Hermitage after the Tomas de Paulis Memorial Greenway Marathon and Half Marathon.
He was born on March 4, 1943, in Sweden to the late Tore and Anna-Greta Ifwasrson de Paulis.
Dr. de Paulis had a career doing chemistry research at Vanderbilt, with several patents to his name. An avid runner and triathlete, he helped certify many of the courses in Tennessee. In 1988, he was the founder of the Music City Marathon, which is now the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Goran de Paulis.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda (Bowman) de Paulis; daughters, Eva and Lisa de Paulis; brother, Bengt (Maarit) de Paulis; step-son, Brent (Elaine) Johnson; grandson, Justin Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
