Duke Henley

October 18, 1973 — May 10, 2024

Duke Roland Henley, a cherished soul known affectionately as Duke, departed this world on May 10, 2024, at the age of 50, in his hometown of Cookeville, TN. Born on October 18, 1973, in the same warm community, he lived a life marked by kindness, gentleness, and a loving nature that touched all who knew him.

Duke was a proud 1991 graduate of Upperman High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and memories. His professional life was dedicated to crafting warmth as a custom fireplace installer, a trade where his skilled hands and attention to detail brought comfort to many homes.

A man of faith, Duke was an active and devoted member of the Rock Castle Emmanuel Church, where he found strength and fellowship. He carried his faith into all aspects of his life, guiding him in his actions and relationships with others.

Duke's love for life was evident in his passions. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Tennessee Vols football team, reveling in the excitement of the game. His love for the outdoors was unmistakable, with fishing, camping, and 4 wheeler riding being activities that brought him immense joy and peace. These moments in nature were some of the simplest yet most profound pleasures he cherished.

Family was the cornerstone of Duke's life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his son, Ethan (Jazmine) Henley; daughters, Cadey (Tyler) West and Ellah Sueanne Henley, all of Baxter; and his sister, Vicky Henley of Baxter. Duke was a doting grandfather to four grandchildren, Carter West, Evelynn West, Naomi Henley, and Malachi Henley, who will miss his gentle spirit and enduring affection. The mother of his children, Beth Henley of Baxter, will forever hold dear the years of shared memories and the family they created together. Duke now joins in peace his late parents, Kenneth Earl and Barbara Sue Lawson Henley; his brother, Randall Henley; and his granddaughter, Emorie West, who preceded him in death.

Duke's presence in our lives was a gift that will continue to inspire and guide us. His soft-spoken words, generous heart, and unwavering support were the hallmarks of a life well-lived. We will remember Duke for his quiet strength, his unwavering integrity, and the kindness he extended to all.

The memories of Duke Roland Henley will be held in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the knowledge that his spirit lives on through the values he instilled in us and the love he so freely gave. Duke's journey on earth has concluded, but his story will continue to be told through the lives of those he has left behind. Rest in peace, Duke. Your light will forever shine in our memories.
