A Receiving of Friends and Family for Edwin Allan Barton, 49 from Lone Tree, Colorado, formerly of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 p.m. in the Dyer Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston, and Horner Funeral Home. Graveside services, conducted by The Reverend Dr. Jon Carlock will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Bohannon Cemetery in Calfkiller, Tennessee. Edwin was born on May 6, 1972, at Fort Rucker, Alabama and passed from this life on November 11, 2021, at his home in Lone Tree, Colorado. Edwin was a 1990 graduate of Cookeville High School and 1996 graduate of Tennessee Technological University where he was a brother of Beta Theta Pi. In the last two decades of his life, he left his home in Tennessee for the mountains of Colorado. He loved it very much there and had an expansive network of friends both personal and professional. With an infectious smile, a joyous laugh and always a kind word, Edwin knew no strangers and will be remembered for his warmth, hospitality, and ability to draw people into his wide circle. Edwin is survived by his mother, Sabra Johnson Lacy and stepfather, Alan Lacy of Cookeville, TN, his father, Jack E. Barton II and stepmother Christie Barton also of Cookeville, siblings Jack E. Barton III of Smithville, TN, Betsy Lacy Martin (David) of Baxter, TN, Molly Lacy Leita (Jayme) of Johnson City, TN, Tiera Barton of Cookeville, uncles George Johnson (Betty Jo) of Cookeville, TN, and Clay Barton of Loup City, NE, his cousin, Ryan Johnson of Cookeville, TN, nephews Ben Barton, Tyler Martin, Benji Leita, Austin Roberts, Evan Roberts, and nieces, Ashlynn Roberts (Dustin), Tess Barton, Camille Barton, and Lacy Leita. Also surviving is Edwin’s beloved canine companion, Ollie. Edwin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George Thurman and Rubye Little Johnson and his paternal grandparents, Jack E. Barton and Olive Toline Barton. Also preceded in death by his other beloved dog, Kira. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501.
