Emogene Ledbetter

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Emogene Ledbetter, 94, of Algood, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday July 21 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Tom Savage will officiate. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery in Overton County. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 12 noon until service time. Mrs. Ledbetter passed away on July 18, 2019 at her home in Algood, TN. She was born on June 5, 1925 in Overton County, TN to the late Roy L. and Ora Davis Smith. Mrs. Ledbetter is survived by daughters Margaret (Ray) Ferrell, Mary (Mike) Martin, Linda (Tom) Savage, Peggy (Ernie) Beasley and Susan Johnson and Bob Good. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.S. Layton Ledbetter; one daughter, Mildred (Kathy) Litchford; two sons, James Kenneth Ledbetter and Phillip Ledbetter; three sisters, Hessie Hicks, Ruby Stuteville, and Rose Nell Smith; and two brothers, Ellis and A.R. Smith. Her greatest accomplishment was being a loving, selfless mother to seven children. Through her seven children, 27 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren her faith in the Lord will continue. Pallbearers will be Michael Litchford, Gary Gibson, Jesse Johnson, Mark Jackson, Josh Johnson and David Walker. The family wishes to thank Lisa Gibson for the special care rendered to Mrs. Ledbetter.
