BAXTER-Graveside service and interment for Mattie Esther Gentry, 93 of Plant City, FL and formerly of Baxter, will be Saturday, September 12 at 11:30 AM at Judd Cemetery in the Holladay Community of Putnam County. The family will receive friends at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home from 10 to 11 AM, leaving in procession at 11:10 AM to the cemetery. Mrs. Gentry passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at her home. She was born July 16, 1922 in Overton County to the late Forrest Elbert and Melissa Ella Garrett Bilbrey. She was a homemaker and member of Sydney (FL) First Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Winfred Talmadge Gentry on August 18, 1998, a Church of God minister for forty-one years. She was a faithful minister's wife, serving with him in Tennessee at the Celina, Maxwell Chapel and Baxter First Church of God congregations and in Florida at Sydney, St. Cloud and Kingsway. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader and Missionary president. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Howard Gentry and David Gentry, and a brother Johnny Bilbrey. She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law Jerry and Laverne Gentry of Sydney, FL, sister Mae Stanley of Plant City, many grandchildren and other family. Rev. J.D. Wheeler and Rev.
