Geneva Farris

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Geneva Gilliam Farris, age 93, of Cookeville, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday October 5 at Colonial View Baptist Church with Rev. Marc Burnett officiating. Interment will follow at the Cunningham Cemetery in White County. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Mrs. Farris passed away Tuesday afternoon October 3, 2017 at the home of her son in Cookeville. She was born July 9, 1924 in Putnam County, TN to the late Hartford and Della Wilhite Gilliam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rev. Guy Farris; a son, Philip Dale Farris; two brothers, Jess Gilliam of Michigan and Charles Gilliam of Cookeville. Geneva was a faithful wife, mother, and friend. She faithfully served beside her pastor husband as they ministered to several churches throughout the Upper Cumberland for over 40 years. She was a charter member of Colonial View Baptist Church. Geneva also enjoyed gardening and quilting. She is survived by her children, Rev. Gary (Patsy) Farris, Nyoka Farris (Donnie) Julian, Michael (Pamela) Farris, and Debbie Kirby Farris (wife of the late Philip Farris), all of Cookeville; special children, Jim and Tootsie McCaleb of Cookeville; 10 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren including her Mustard Seed Ranch family; two sisters, Lou Ellen McNeely of Algood and Naomi Nabors of Dayton, OH; two brothers-in-law, Daniel (Rosell) Farris and Fred (Maudie) Farris all of Cookeville; two sisters-in-law, Irene Farris Agee and Wydlene Webb Farris (wife of the late Harvey Farris) of Cookeville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Shawn Julian, Greg Julian, Stacy Julian, and Ray Farris. Honorary pallbearers will be Clint Julian, Ryan Julian, Jonathan Farris, Steven Farris, Nick Holman, and Lance Vickers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mustard Seed Ranch, PO Box 3814, Cookeville, TN 38502. Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
