Gerald Cumby

Funeral services for Mr. Robert ‘Gerald' Cumby, age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday November 17th at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Randy Maynard will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Paran Cemetery. His family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Sunday November 13, 2016 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 28, 1935 in Putnam County, TN to the late Bob and Mae Morgan Cumby. Gerald served his country for 20 years as a member of the US Air Force and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military retirement, he worked as an electrician with Baran USA in Cookeville. Gerald enjoyed spending time outdoors farming his land and fishing on his pontoon boat. He was a kind and gentle man who loved and cared for many animals. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Jewell Huddleston. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Grace ‘Ann' Poston Cumby; son, Rick Cumby and wife Robin; grandchildren, Erik and Melissa Cumby, all of Cookeville; and by one niece and two nephews.
