Funeral services for Dr. Gus Wilson House, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Cookeville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Rob Wheeler will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery.
His family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
He died Saturday October 1, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 2, 1940 in Benton, KY to the late Glynn and Fay Davis House. He earned a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Tennessee-College of Pharmacy in Memphis.
He enjoyed a long career as a pharmacist in Cookeville. He was a man of many talents and abilities, as a golden gloves boxer and coach, an avid outdoorsman, world traveler, photographer and chef to his family. Most important to him were his titles of husband, father and grandfather as he cherished time spent with those he loved the most.
He and his wife Patsy have been members of Cookeville First United Methodist Church since their marriage in 1975.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William G. House, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patsy Denson House; sons, William "Bo" House and wife Audrey of Franklin, TN, Richard House, also of Franklin and Ethan House and wife Karen of Wilmington, NC; daughters, Karen Tarr of Cookeville and Lin Birdwell of Sparta, TN; grandchildren, Loren (Brandon) Hashe, Skyler (Joe) Tarr, Emma House, Sophie House, Abram House, Jonna House, Will House and Asheford House; great grandchildren, Wyatt Hashe and Noah Hashe; a sister in law, Mary Sue House; and by a niece and nephew, Malisa and Chris Burdit.
Bo House, Richard House, Ethan House, Brandon Hashe, Abram House and Will House will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Fulller, Dr. Tom Lawrence, Steve Robinson, Skyler Tarr, Dr. Toney Hudson and Bobby Davis.
