Gwendolyn West

Funeral services for Gwendolyn Irene West, age 71, of Smithville and formerly of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday November 21 at New Beginnings Fellowship Church. Interment will follow in the West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls Community of Putnam County. Her family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 - 7 p.m. at Dyer Funeral Home and again Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. West passed away Saturday evening November 17, 2018 at St Thomas Dekalb Hospital in Smithville, TN. She was born July 31, 1947 in Hinton, OK to the late Earl and Fay McGar Taylor. Mrs. West was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church. She was retired from Russell Stover Candies in Cookeville, and served as the former president of the employee union. She is survived by two sons, Teral (Tammy) West of Smithville, Kenneth (Holly) West of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Jordan, Tanner, and Gavin West, and Savannah (Jonathon) Warren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert West; two brothers, Vernon Taylor and Donald Taylor; and two sisters, Wanda Thompson and Katherine House. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzeheimer's TN, 1459 Interstate Dr., Ste. 211, Cookeville, TN 38501.
