Funeral services for Harold C. Funk, 87, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, March 31 at 1pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Shipley Cemetery. Mr. Funk died Wednesday afternoon March 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born January 26, 1925 in Rowlesburg, West Virginia to the late Frank Benjamin and Lillie Mae Henline Funk. Mr. Funk served his country as a Corporal with the United States Marine Corps. during World War II. He was a retired Horticulture Professor at Tennessee Tech University with 35 years of service. He owned and operated Funk"�s Greenhouse. He was a long time former member of the Rotary Club of Cookeville and enjoyed writing poetry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers, and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife Sarah Jo Agee Funk (whom he married on September 9, 1991 in Putnam Co. TN); three sons and daughters in law, Kevin and Patricia Funk of Oak Ridge, David and Lou Alice Funk of Cookeville, John Mark and Suzanne Funk of Huntsville, AL; two daughters and one son in law, Linda and Richard Bennett of Cookeville and Alice Funk Livingston of Lebanon, TN; three stepchildren, Rory Mitchell and wife Betsy Smith, Jill Smith, Joel Smith and wife Tammy; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Mildred Dean of Rowlesburg, W. VA and special friends, Dr. Jeff and Becky Crosier of Cookeville. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Groce, Jerry Cumby, Richard Bennett, Orville Flatt, Bob Hayes, Wayne Moss, David Stamps & Johnny Roberson. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Funk, Shawn Bennett, David Harold Funk, Brian Livingston, Brett Funk and Jared Koon. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel and again on Saturday 11 a.m. until service time. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Putnam County Habitat for Humanity, 728 E. 15th St., Cookeville, TN 38501.
