Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Marie Dyer, 92 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, September 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Johnny Fox will officiate. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Dyer's family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. She died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at her residence. She was born November 29, 1924 in Iowa to the late Joe Miller Richmond and Olive Ruth May Richmond. Hazel was a true lady, always put together and was especially humble and kind. She loved everyone and was loved by all. Among many other beloved attributes, she was known for her delicious pies, especially her chocolate ones. She was a member of McBroom Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Wallace Russell Dyer; sister, Betty Ford; and brother, Harold Richmond. She is survived by son and daughter in law, Ronald L. (Ron) and Sara Dyer of Cape Coral, FL; daughter, Linda Garrison of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, Angela, Mikal, Patrick, Sacha, Justin, Kyla, Tave and Chris; eight great grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Scott of Cookeville and Ruby Simmons of Clearwater, FL.
