Helen Donzella Ward

Funeral Services for Mrs. Helen Donzella Ward, age 98, of Cookeville, will be Monday evening, March 18, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of the service on Monday evening, and also following the service in the Chapel. Mrs. Ward’s Cremains will be buried in the Camp Ground Cemetery in Overton County at a later date. Helen was born August 3, 1914 in Elk Garden, Maryland to the late Cecil Clifton Thrasher and Mattie Virginia Sulser Thrasher. She was a retired secretary for the Hartford Insurance Company in Detroit MI. Mrs. Ward loved her church and was a member of the Washington Ave. Baptist Church. Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter; Maureen Schultz (husband Howard) of Cookeville: two grandchildren, Jim Schultz (wife Jennifer) of Cookeville and Tim Schultz of Nashville; two great grandchildren, Deanna Wilbanks (husband Ed) and Heather Schultz; and one great-great grandchild, Rinoa Wilbanks, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Horman Hamilton Ward, two sisters, Pauline and Naomi, and one brother, Cecil Thrasher. Bro. Mark Gaw will officiate the services on Monday evening.
