Herbert C. Ferris Sr.

Funeral service for Mr. Herbert C. Ferris, Sr., age 89, of Cookeville, will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 29 at Dyer Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington of Tennessee in the Cherry Creek Community. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. and again Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Ferris passed away Tuesday morning June 26, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 7, 1929 in Chapmansboro, TN to the late Frank and Fannie Ferris. Mr. Ferris was a US Navy veteran. He retired from Duriron (Flowserve). He raised horses, loved rodeos, loved to play music and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dayton OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Naomi McDaniel Ferris (d: 3/18/2015) and daughter, Vickie Nixon. He is survived by sons: Herbert 'Butch' Ferris, Jr. (Shelia) of Lafayette; Darrel Ferris (Michelle) of Wedowee, Alabama; daughter, Rita Anderson (William) of Cookeville. Grandchildren; Toni Ingani, Kyle Nixon, Lee Ferris, and Danielle Ferris. Great-Grandchildren; Tyler Fields and Evelyn Nixon. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
