Funeral Services for Ima Rhoton, age 94, of Baxter, will be Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. Burial will be in the Nash Cemetery. Mrs. Rhoton passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her home and surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ima was born June 4, 1919 in Baxter TN to the late Green Duke Nash and Mary Ella Hedgecough Nash. She was a member of the Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Ima loved God and her family dearly. Mrs. Rhoton never met a stranger and loved people, loved cooking, and people were always welcome at her table. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, canning and freezing. Everyone loved her green beans and chicken and dumplings. Mrs. Ima is survived by her children; James Rhoton (Sue) of Baxter, Mary Harris (Larry) of Baxter, Lavonda Moore (Dean) of Cookeville, Joyce Weaver (Barnie) of Wartrace, and Douglas Rhoton of Baxter; four sisters, Anna Western, Lorene Trobaugh, Ruby Lafever, Adell Allison; and three sisters-in-law, Anita Underwood, Estelle Rose, and Betty Nash. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lora, Harold, Richard, and Erica Rhoton of Baxter, Mandy Davis of Cookeville, Tamara (Jeff) Farley of Cookeville, Michael (Yvonnne) Harris of McMinnville, Lane (Shannon) Moore of Cookeville and Lara (Joel) Mowery of Knoxville. In addition Mrs. Rhoton is survived by eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, also two special friends; James Haley and Barbara Melton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rhoton was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Herman Rhoton; three children, Nancy, Harold, and David Rhoton; seven brothers, Charlie, Haskell, Oscar, Sam, Jay, Clifford and Asher Nash,three sisters Osa Duncan, Martha Swafford and Evelyn Randolph. Pallbearers will be Richard Rhoton, Larry Harris, Jeff Farley, Barnie Weaver, Tepoe Nash, and Luis Arroyos. Honorary pallbearers will be James Haley, Jimmy Randolph, Dean Moore, and Harold Rhoton. Brother Tracy Gross and Brother Al Gaspard will be conducting the services. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Boiling Springs Baptist Church, 6298 Burgess Falls Rd, Baxter TN 38544.
