Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Stamps, 89 of the Pin Hook Road Community near Monterey, will be held Tuesday December 27 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sand Springs Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tony Phipps will officiate. Mrs. Stamps went to be with her Lord Saturday morning December 24, 2011 at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born January 31, 1922 in Monterey to the late William Sanford and Sarah Hannah Howard Hall. She attended Baxter Seminary and while a member of the World War II Cadet Corps she received her nursing degree at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. She worked a number years at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH and was a retired Operating Room Supervisor at Cookeville Regional Medical Center with 20 years of service. Until her recent illness she had been an active member of Sand Springs Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was an avid reader; loved embroidering gifts for family and friends; and especially loved home grown tomatoes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edward Stamps; three sisters, Dean Harris, Ava Prine, and Vida Hall; and two brothers, L. Estes Hall and Sidney Carson Hall. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Long of West Palm Beach, FL; son, Mike Stamps of Huntsville, Al; two grandchildren, Haley Long and Erin McLaughlin; and her sister, Notie Hailey of Louisville, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Stamps family will receive friends only on Tuesday from 11 a.m. unti service time at the funeral home.
