A Celebration of Life for John (JB) William Dyer, age 63 of Cookeville, was held Wednesday May 26th from 5-8 p.m. at his home located on 955 E. Hudgens Street, Cookeville. The event was come and go, as parking was limited. John died Tuesday May 18, 2021 at his home. He was born Wednesday September 11, 1957 in Cookeville, TN, to the late Kenneth and Elise Bohannon Dyer. While in high school, he played baseball and golf. He graduated from Putnam County Senior High School in 1975 and attended Martin Methodist University on athletic scholarship. John worked as the Director of the Putnam County Parks and Recreation, where he retired after 32 years of service. His hobbies included playing with his grandchildren, competing in local golf tournaments and scrambles, spending time with friends, and watching sporting events. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Dyer. He is survived by a daughter, Courtney (Brian) Brauss of Mount Juliet; a son, Josh (Brittany) Dyer of Murfreesboro; 5 grandchildren, Mia, Paxton, and Ellie Brauss and Sharles and Brayden Dyer; one sister Linda (Zeke) Thompson and two brothers Dale (Sharon) Dyer and Dennis Dyer.
