Jackie Mcmurry

ALGOOD-Funeral services for Mrs. Jackie McMurry, age 81 of Algood, will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Algood Heritage Cemetery. Rev. Diantha McLeod will officiate.

Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10am until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs.McMurry died Monday April 10, 2023 at her residence.

She was born January 24, 1942 in Cookeville, TN to the late Jerry Alfred "Bryson" Myers, Sr and Mary F. Verble Myers.

Mrs. McMurry had a strong work ethic. She was employed as a seamstress with Ford Motor Company near Detroit, Michigan and at Hour O Matic after moving to Cookeville in the late 1980s. She also giving and generous to her family and to the community. She volunteered for numerous organizations including serving as President of the White Plains community board. Most notably, she loved the Lord and spent countless hours serving in the church that she faithfully attended, Burton's Chapel United Methodist Church. Her service at Burton's Chapel included serving as co-chair of the food pantry, Operation Christmas Child shoebox ministry, and nomination vice chair, among others. She lived her life in service to God, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James William "Wilmore" Myers and Robert Lee Myers; and by sisters, Shirley Jackson, Rita Carter, Idella Armstrong and Christine Goolsby

She is survived by sons, Barry McMurry and his devoted girlfriend, Susan King and Brian McMurry and his wife Marchia; brother, Jerry (Janice) Bryson, Jr.; sisters, Sue (Marvin) Beidleman and Peggy Barrociere; eight grandchildren including Mekayla Delk who was a devoted caretaker to Mrs. Jackie; and by five great grandchildren.
