James E. Lafever

Funeral services for James Edward Lafever, age 86 of Baxter, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday August 21 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Corey Price, Bro. Richard Stone, and Bro. Clayton Lee will officiate. Interment will follow at Spears Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 - 8 p.m and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until service. Social distancing and the use of masks are appreciated. James passed away Tuesday afternoon August 17, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born May 12, 1935 in Dekalb County, TN to the late Charlie Lafever and Betty Ann Spears Lafever. James was a lifelong farmer. He formerly worked at ACME Boot Co. in Cookeville and Texas Boot Co. in Lebanon. He was a member of Ozion Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lillie Tinch Lafever; three sons, Lynn Lafever of Baxter; Rodney (Tina) Lafever of Martinsville, IN, Dennis (Kim) Lafever of Martinsville, IN; daughter, Belinda Carter of Baxter; sister, Lillie Merill Lafever Williams of Baxter; seven grandchildren, Shane Carter, James (Nicole) Lafever, Linda (James) Dobbs, Cody (Ashley) Lafever, Jared (Mary) Lafever, Sarah Lafever, and Justin (Sarah) Lafever; ten great grandchildren, Logan, McKenna, Sawyer, Payton, Lanna, Briley, Lyndon Lafever, Jeffrey Carter, Kaitlyn Dobbs, and Michael Maracle. Pallbearers will be grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Solon Spears.
