Funeral services for Mr. James Herman Rhoton, age 75, of Baxter, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 9 at Dyer Funeral Home with Rev. Marc Burnett and Rev. Gary West officiating. Interment will follow in the Nash Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Rhoton passed away Sunday evening, February 5, 2017 at his home. He was born July 25, 1941 in Putnam County, TN to the late Herman and Ima Jewel Nash Rhoton. James was a member of Colonial View Baptist Church. He was a former employee with Putnam County Jail and had previously worked as a road manager for country music performer Porter Wagoner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sue Ledbetter Rhoton, whom he married December 29, 1986 in Cookeville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Harold Rhoton, Richard and Billie Rhoton, all of Baxter; three daughters and son-in-law, Laura Rhoton of Baxter, Mandy and Robert Young of Cookeville, and Erica Rhoton of Franklin, TN; brother, Douglas Rhoton of Baxter; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Larry Harris of Baxter, Lavonda and Dean Moore of Cookeville, Joyce and Barnie Weaver of Wartrace, TN; five grandchildren, Lindsay (Derek) Holloway, Heather Rhoton, Alexa Yates, Katie Davis, and Kolton Young.
