Jane Hamlet

Mary Jane Hamlet, age 58 of Cookeville, passed away suddenly Tuesday March 9, 2021. She is preceded in death by grandmother, Helen Thompson; grandparents, John W. and Alta Mae Burchett; brother, Eddie Burchett and son, Logan Hamlet. Jane is survived by sons Kelsey Hamlet and Nick (Shelbey) Hamlet of Cookeville; daughter, Aly Hamlet all of Cookeville; parents, Johnnie (Barbara) Burchett of Cookeville; brother and sister-in-law, David (Deborah) Burchett of Sparta; sister-in-law, Lori Burchett of Maynardsville, TN; grandchildren, Liam, Owen, and Layne; and nieces and nephews, Dave Burchett, Brandy Pryor, and Bobbie Bowen. Jane was born in Inglewood, CA on October 17, 1962. She was retired from the Davidson County, TN Health Department. Jane was an exceptional athlete in her younger years. She excelled in softball and was a rowdy rooter when her kids played sports. She was also a fabulous cook, an exceptional crafter, and loved all animals, especially her two dachshunds. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday March 13 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Moore officiated. The family received friends Saturday from 12 noon until service time. Social distancing and the use of masks was appreciated. Her family asks that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
