James A. Dunn, 82, of Cookeville, TN, went to be with Jesus and entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was surrounded by his family at his passing. A private family service will be held on Sunday January 3 at Hooper-Huddleston and Horner. Pastors Mark Gaw and Mark Studler will officiate the service and interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery. James, better known as Jim, was born in Greensburg, Indiana, on January 24, 1938, to Kenneth and Grace Dunn. Jim was a 1956 graduate from Burney High School, Burney, Indiana. He attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jeanne McClintic on August 11, 1957. Jim and Mary Jeanne moved to Cookeville in 1967 from Columbus, Indiana, with Cummins/Fleetguard. He implemented the computer system for the Cookeville Fleetguard plant. They had the opportunity to live in Quimper, France, from 1986 to 1987 where he implemented the computer system for the Fleetguard plant that was built in Quimper. In 1988, Jim retired from Cummins/Fleetguard after 30 years of working for the company. He then worked for six years as Vice President of Manufacturing for Crossville Ceramics before finally retiring completely. Jim was very fortunate to have been able to travel a great deal. He had a great love for golf and fishing. He enjoyed watching all sports with his family. Most of all he enjoyed a good meal with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and Papaw. Jim was a member of Trinity Assembly in Algood. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Jeanne Dunn; sons, Jeff (Sandy) Dunn and Randy (Karen) Dunn of Cookeville; daughter, Jennifer (Bruce) Barlow of Elizabethtown, KY; grandchildren, Tyler Barlow, Jared (Lindsey) Dunn, Lindsey (Justin) Lawson, Hannah (Ben) Dooley, and Hope Dunn; great-grandchildren Maci, Annabelle, and Jude Dunn, Lexi Barden, and Luna Lawson; his brother, Jerry (Janice) Dunn of Indianapolis, IN, and sister, Marlene Strauser of Shelbyville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Grace Dunn. Pallbearers will be Jeff Dunn, Randy Dunn, Jerry Dunn, Jared Dunn, Bruce Barlow, and Tyler Barlow.
