BAXTER-Funeral services for James "Jim" Randolph Gourley, Jr. 78 of Silver Point, were held Thursday, January 21 at 1 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Bro. John Pippin officiated. Military honors were provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. The family received friends Thursday after 11 AM at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19, social distancing measures were in place. Mr. Gourley died Friday, January 15, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 22, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James Randolph Gourley, Sr. and Mary Rose Russell Gourley. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Jim was a member of the Baxter Church of Christ. He retired as a computer programmer with DPSC. Jim and his wife moved to Silver Point from Maryland in 2008. Survivors include wife of 56 years (Married August 31, 1964) Helen Neer Gourley of Silver Point, daughter Mary Angela Wallace of Baxter and Max Wallace, son James Randolph (Cape) Gourley, III of Glenrock, PA, sister Margaret (Dave) Martin of Cookeville, brothers Frank (Linda) Gourley of Harbeson, Delaware, Carroll (Mary Beth) Gourley of Catonsville, Maryland, brother-in-law Palmer Neer and the late Jean Neer, grandchildren: Joshua (Kassie) Wallace, Tabatha Perry, Jacqui (Zak) Arnold, Niki (Joey) Butler, James Gourley, IV and Amanda, Zachary Wallace and William (Jess) Gourley, great-grandchildren: Alexis, Kierra, Jayten, Caitlin, Brooklyn, Danyl, Braylen, Daxton, Harper and William, several nieces and nephews.
