Funeral services for Mr. James Baxter "Jim"� Hunter, 66, of Cookeville will be held Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Chris McMichael officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Hunter died suddenly Thursday morning, March 1, 2012 at his home. He was born July 24, 1945 in Meigs County, TN to the late Robert Baxter and Norma Bertha Sue Falls Hunter. Mr. Hunter attended Engrafted Word Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a truck driver for over 40 years prior to retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Amanda Hunter and a granddaughter, April Simmons. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vera Lee Dickey Hunter of Cookeville (whom he married January 25, 1967 in Ringgold, GA); three sons and daughters-in-law, John and April Phillips, Michael and Faye Hunter all of Cookeville; Tommy and Amy Hunter of Flaherty, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie Sue and Eddie Maddle of Sparta, TN and Renee and Michael Hawkins of Cookeville; sister, Phyllis Deal of Chattanooga; twenty-three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
