Jimmy Freeman

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Durell Freeman, age 82 will be held Tuesday, August 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Wilmoth will officiate. Interment will follow in Phillips Cemetery in Algood. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Freeman died Saturday August 20, 2022 at NHC of Cookeville. He was born October 16, 1939 in Putnam County, TN to the late Herman Lee Freeman and Lucy Lee Tayes Freeman. Jimmy walked uphill both ways to the Bangham School and graduated Salutatorian from Algood High School in 1957 having earned honors in Beta Club, Math Club and FFA. Jimmy studied engineering at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute and was hired as such at Bowser-Briggs where he was eventually promoted to shipping manager and retained this position when the company later became the Keene Corporation. He continued his traffic routing skills at Eastern Foam for years and then helped open the Aquatech Inc. plant. With the birth of his grandchild in 1990 he retired for good so that he could enjoy his life, naps, crossword puzzles and the farm on which he had been born. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gleama "Kay" Boswell Freeman; daughter, Lisa Marie Freeman Mayberry and by an infant son, Jeffrey Lee Freeman. Mr. Freeman is survived by a son, Bryan (Suzie Stout) Freeman of Oak Ridge; grandson, Jonathan Lee (Jackie) Williams of Hilham; a brother, Charles Freeman of Glasgow, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and loving neighbors.
