A celebration of life service for Joann Lindsay Skold, 75 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, September 17th at 1 P.M. at her residence. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. Her family will also receive friends Wednesday evening from 5pm until 8pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mrs. Skold passed away peacefully Saturday, September 12, 2015 at her home, with her loving husband by her side. She was born February 13, 1940 in Torrington, Connecticut to the late Thomas F. and Alice English Lindsay. Joann was a graduate of Westbrook College in Portland, Maine, earning a degree in education. Professionally she served as President of Dixie Materials Handling Incorporated and Co-owner of Dixie Dock Enterprises. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful homemaker for her family, and for her social, outgoing nature, especially at her favorite local establishment, Spankies. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was fondly referred to by many as "mom". Additionally, she enjoyed traveling, reading, playing games and was an avid gardener, earning the Cookeville Clean Commission's Beautification Award. She is survived by her adoring family, her husband of 53 years, Frank Skold; daughter, Heidi and husband Neal Spurgeon of Cookeville; son, Kevin and wife Christine Skold of Brentwood; daughter, Heather and husband John Weidekamp of Knoxville; grandchildren, Holly and husband Justin Braun, Ross Spurgeon and girlfriend Allie Weber, Lindsay Skold, Ava Weidekamp, and great grandchild, Peyton Braun. And her sister, Hannan Finn and husband Jeff Uffleman of Brandon, Oregon Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to COPD Foundation at copdfoundation.org and/or to Gentiva Hospice, 851 South Willow Ave., 102, Cookeville, TN 38501.
